Palestine LOVES---Forever21

Sure the Gulf has every North-American and European designer look in an expensive boutique shopping experience, but when I get home-sick for cute (and cheap) Western clothing I shop online at Forever21. [Website available here: http://www.forever21.com/]
Yeah, the rest of the time I wear jalibiyias.

Pixie's Picks: Ahad Ahad.com

This is a review from a series of online Islamic shopping experiences and sites, written from the perspective of one stylish Canadian convert/revert. Up for review today? Ahad-Ahad.com, website available here: http://ahadstore.com/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=3000
Pixie: This site is the BEST I have found for Gulf-style jalibiyias that you can purchase online. The prices range from $60.00-$300.00 so there should be something for every budget. They also have an abaya range but their hijabs are nothing worth speaking of. It is the jalibiyias that steal the show, and they are what I fall back on for special occasions I KNOW are coming. The shipping is sooooooooooo slow though (two months) so you have to plan in advance when ordering from Ahad-Ahad. For quality, price range, and a beautiful jalibiyia selection, I give them an eight, because there is nothing else out there to order online from.

Arabesque Last Season-this lets me know what to pack for Dubai

I wish I could afford Arabesque but the choice is between a Chanel boucle suit, or an Arabesque abaya so... I take inspiration from the label, and then visit the tailor.

Old Arabesque---How the Abaya became Fashion

Please remember. These are models, not Muslims. Use your hijab to cover your hair.

Pixie's Picks: The Canadian Muslim.com

[Work It-set taken from the old BM website]

A review of online Islamic shopping experiences and sites, written from the perspective of one stylish Canadian convert/revert. Up for review today? The Canadian Muslim.com, website available here: http://www.thecanadianmuslim.ca/index.html

Pixie: Ok, I love this site's hijabs, and they have a great selection of Islamic merchandise (jilbabs, hijabs, swimwear for Muslimahs, Islamic wedding dresses (albeit with no prices listed)), but I am simply not a fan of their prices. Everything is a bit too high for me, so I only splurge on crazy bright printed hijabs. Their shipping is quick, but the price things makes me give them a six out of ten. Splurge on the hijabs still? It's a yes for me.

Suitcase Stylings: Saudi Style for Men

The key to Saudi style is the thobe. One that goes with everything? Basic traditional white thobe from http://www.desertstore.com/products-For-Sale/SA-thb-01.html for $51.20. White dress bisht from http://cgi.ebay.ca/BNWT-WHITE-Arab-Coat-Cloak-Robe-Party-Dress-Sheik-Bisht_W0QQitemZ320306428903QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item320306428903&_trksid=p3286.m63.l1177 for $13.99 GBP.

Stylish Thobe with a bit of personality from http://www.desertstore.com/products-For-Sale/SA-thobe-20.html for $65.700 USD. A traditional white ghutra grounds the contemporary look.

Traditional White Saudi Ghutra from http://www.desertstore.com/products-For-Sale/SA-ght-03.html for $13.99 USD.

Remember to use breath mints and to wear cologne because it is considered very bad manners not to take care of one's self in this manner.

Jilbab in Poppies: keep it poppin' winter to spring

WINTER WEAR WORKPLACE SOLUTION: I fell in love with this Oscar de la Renta dress, and this grey Versace croc tote. With poppy-red heels? Gold diamond hoops? The outfit is too pretty not to hint at so I had to have this poppy encrusted jilbab from http://cgi.ebay.ca/Islamic-clothing-Abaya-Jilbab-Thobe-Hijab-Kaftan-Caftan_W0QQitemZ260285535334QQihZ016QQcategoryZ155254QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262
for $57.00 USD.

I like this jilbab for it versatality and workplace potential. Poppies in the sping: just lighten up on the accessories. Orange pumps, petal pink 2.22... Carolina Herrera silver charm necklace... Choices are only as endless as your local mall. Or your mind.

Pixie's Picks: 3Circle Market Ebay Boutique

[outfit set featuring a Three Circle buy taken from a friend's facebook set]
This is the second of a dozen Islamic Clothing site reviews from a Canadian friend of mine. Since I get most of my abayas tailor-made or off the rack in the Gulf she has kindly volunteered to review Islamic shopping sites for me and you (and we have fun bouncing fashion sets off of one another).

Pixie's picks: 3Circle Market Ebay Boutique, a review of the online shopping experience. Site avilable here: http://stores.ebay.ca/3circlemarket

Pixie: I love their selection of coloured house dresses/jilbabs, the prices are low, and my shipping was quick (two weeks or less on average). The sizes tend to fit a bit large, but for the price, and something quick to wear for ladies party or a special occasion that crops up? I do recommend 3Circle for price, selection, and speedy delivery.
What is Pixie Purchasing Next?: I am eyeing up a saffron number, a mauve one, and am torn between lime and turquoise.

Modesty Make-Over: Victoria Beckham

POSH SPICE STYLE STREET WEAR? A MODEST ANSWER?

Bend it like Beckham?---or just like Posh here? Yes, you can do it like a fashionista and still keep your hijab. Just add length and sleeves, and keep the bag, for a more modest option. Victoria Beckham is sporting the trend of bright pink Birkin (everywhere recently), little frilly, ruffled/or tasselled dress, big black celeb sunglasses, diamond bracelet, and pink pumps. I like the look with a jilbab, and to keep it fresh I stack my pumps with fishnets.

Fringed Shayla from http://www.salwarqameez.com/sa-hjb-05.html for $7.00 USD

POSH SPICE STANDING BY HER MAN? A MODEST ANSWER TO HER HOT ROLAND MOURET DRESS
Okay, so a jilbab Posh's colour will look like a tube of Pepto Bismol so keep the pink all-over and figure hugging delciousness of this dress for your man (or close girlfriends indoors). Victoria Beckham sports Roland Mouret but you can get the same look for less.

Pink Moon Dress from http://www.oli.co.uk/ for $60.00 EUR.

The Celebrity Abaya

What if I told you I saw Pamela Anderson wearing an abaya? [Relief I am sure] Jennifer Lopez wore hijab, and Gillian Anderson (from the X-files) was spotted on the red carpet wearing a butterfly abaya, so what is to stop celebs, from Nicole Ritchie, Mary-Kate Olsen, Cate Blanchett, Debra Messing, Margarita Missoni, and Angelina Jolie, from modelling more modest wear? Yes, celebs, self-respect is always in style. See girls, there is nothing to stop you from sporting jilbab!

I think Jolie never looked lovlier. I love seeing non-muslim women in modest clothing, respecting themselves.
Look! Debra Messing is even covering her hair.

My thoughts on thinking...

I would just like to apologize here for the lack of personal posts. I have no news yet, as to where I am going to end up, so I am just saving shopping lists, and bits of a friend's blog in case she decides to delete it to focuss more on her Islamic education.

Bump Babes-How to Create Height in you Hijab

Have you ever wondered how khaleeji girls are getting the perfectly sculpted tresses under that sheila to make it fall so glam and high fashion... It has nothing to do with tresses like these (at least not for day wear)---and everything to do with clips like these (though Gulf women like us are famous for our incredibly healthy and long hair):

Pink Hijab Day Report

Today the world over was Pink Hijab day in support of finding a cure for breast cancer.

There was classic pink...
Add Imageand hot pink...
and there was baby pink...
There were even pink abayas and caftans and talk of pink niqabs!!! All in all it was, I could suppose, a wild success.
