I would just like to apologize here for the lack of personal posts. I have no news yet, as to where I am going to end up, so I am just saving shopping lists, and bits of a friend's blog in case she decides to delete it to focuss more on her Islamic education.

Bump Babes-How to Create Height in you Hijab
Have you ever wondered how khaleeji girls are getting the perfectly sculpted tresses under that sheila to make it fall so glam and high fashion... It has nothing to do with tresses like these (at least not for day wear)---and everything to do with clips like these (though Gulf women like us are famous for our incredibly healthy and long hair):Posted by a_woman_called_Palestine at 11:16 AM 0 comments

"My" Emirati Home-Girl Style
So the air conditioner is broke and you have to call some worker to come on over and fix it. The worker happens to be a man. Do you REALLY want to wear black abaya in the house? Not our stylist Pixie! She created this cute set for me.

Pixie's Picks: Islamic Boutique
[outfit set featuring an Islamic Boutique abaya taken from http://preciousmodesty.blogspot.com/2007/07/dressing-up-in-islamic-clothing.html ]
Pixie's picks: Islamic Boutique, a review of the online shopping experience. Site avilable here: http://www.islamicboutique.com/default.asp
Pixie: Alot of my personal abaya collection comes from Islamic boutique, courtesy of their large and ever changing selection of cuts (including colour options beyond black) and designs. Sheer options makes me willing to wait for the month and a half shipping times (the company is based in Egypt), and their high shipping costs (they do not give discounts for multiple purchases in one go---what's up with that????). Still, I love their selection, and always receieve my product in the end. One note to go by when ordering: the pictures do not always show the true colour, so order by the stated colour on the ordering option (the lighting for the product photos was BAAAAAAAAD!!!!). Individual abaya costs WITH shipping range from $50.00 USD-$130 USD and most styles come with a matching shayla option (I only go for this IF the shayla has a special matching design cuz the shayla fabric isn't the same quality as the fabric of the abayas). My final word: Islamic Boutique= 7/10 (I mark hard).
WHAT IS PIXIE PLANNING ON PURCHASING NEXT?
BLACK SATIN SQUARE ABAYA available at http://www.islamicboutique.com/satin-diamond-abaya.asp for $54.90 USD
ZAHRA ABAYA available at http://www.islamicboutique.com/zahra-abaya.asp for $54.90 USD
PLISEE GORGEOUS ABAYA available at http://www.islamicboutique.com/plisee-gorgeous-abaya.asp for $74.90 USD
SATIN SIDE ABAYA available at http://www.islamicboutique.com/satin-side-abaya.asp for $59.90 USD.
AND WHAT IS ALREADY INSIDE PIXIE's CLOSET
Pink Striped Princess Sleeve Abaya purchased by Pixie: http://www.islamicboutique.com/smart-n-casual-abaya.asp for $54.90 USD

Arabic Designer Spotlight: Zuhair Murad

Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad [website available here: http://www.zuhairmurad.com.lb/] is my favourite Arabic designer for a sexy cocktail dress or a crazy fun party dress. The bottom blue Haifa wore I adore for playing dress up in, and wouldn't that purple just look fabulous on me? I HAD to include Haifa wearing the man's clothes because the most modest I have EVER seen her look on stage was in Murad's green princess sleeve gown (pictured below) for a concert in the Gulf. [pictures of Haifa's costumes taken from http://haifafashions.blogspot.com/]

What the Khaleeji Muslim Bride Wears
On the street Gulf women are clad in black abayas (because there are men present). As soon as the men are gone... so are the abayas. The khaleeji bride usually wears a modern white wedding dress of her own design (especially tailored for her---or from a brand name designer such a Eli Saab or Zuhair Murad, Givenchy, Dior, what have you.
Of course complete with fabulous Arabic make-up... [pictures taken from http://www.al-lilac.com/ (for more Arabic stlye make-over be sure to check out this page: http://khaleejia.blogspot.com/2008/07/uae-khakleeji-hair-style-for-special.html ].
...and equally fabulous khaleeji hair. [photos of Gulf hairstyles taken from http://khaleejia.blogspot.com/2008/07/uae-khakleeji-hair-style-for-special.html]

Arabesque Abaya and Sheila: winter 2008 collection
Simple sequin detail and metal beading---dramatic effect.
An art-deco Cleopatra for Muslimahs.
Cross between a Puritan-Victorian lady and a Spanish aristocrat. Masha'Allah!
Simple ribbon trimmings, and gorgeously feminine emerald arabic cut stones to set it off. Very Empress of Ozz.
Casual cutie with fabric twists hung from the fabric hems. Oo la la! Tres belle!~

and hot pink...
and there was baby pink...
There were even pink abayas and caftans and talk of pink niqabs!!! All in all it was, I could suppose, a wild success.
